Aefauld Rod Co makes bamboo fly rods intended to be enjoyed.  The tapers, finish and fittings for the rods have been selected based on function and performance.  Rod building, like anything to do with fly fishing, is a constant learning experience.  I fish with these rods, and will evolve and improve them over time to suit what I like and what works best.  I experiment with and test different designs, finishes and fittings to best suit the fishing I enjoy most – trout streams in Australia.

Why bamboo?  It has soul.  A handcrafted bamboo rod feels unique to fish with.  It affords the rod builder with endless opportunities to adjust, adapt and innovate and the results are simply beautiful rods.  Bamboo also possesses amazing characteristics as an engineering material.  Bamboo is natures gift to fly fishing (along with rivers, and fish, and insects I guess…).

"Aefauld" is an old Scots word meaning unique, simple-hearted, honest, faithful.
